My research into time and states of being continues to draw me toward the subtle environmental cues that reveal the passage of time. Recently, I’ve turned my attention to the shadows cast by the sun — how their length, direction, and shape constantly shift. These mutable markers quietly chart our evolution from moment to moment.

As moments moved forward, the shadows’ changing geometry tells the story of time’s progression. As days turned into a full calendar month, the flowers I focused on transformed, wilting and making space for new species. The sun’s positioning and aperture shifted in tandem, becoming temporal indicators and signalling a particular season.

This practice demanded a heightened mindfulness — a deliberate, practiced act of looking. Through this attentiveness, the environment became both subject and storyteller, revealing time not as an abstract concept but as a living, visible presence.
