Sun Catcher
Sarah Delaney draws on her interest in phenomenology, prompting a consideration of how things appear and reveal themselves to us. Inspired by the fragile and ephemeral nature of biomorphic shadows, the installation Sun Catcher, arrests a fleeting moment, generating a tableau in which time appears suspended. The natural rhythm of the sun’s rotation is disturbed, leaving viewers in a timeless state of coming and going. Made of wire and plaster, the organic forms and the fleeting unpredictability of their shadows, are held between movement and stillness, fixed in both time and place. The apparition of silhouettes suggests another dimension where there is both a distortion from and an alluding to the source. As the world and everything in it presents themselves, we make meaning through experience.
